Only a guess but they look like clips to hold the cable to me. Try looking along it's route to see if there are any unused screw holes where they might mount.
65 ac,
i just went and looked at my 65 a/c and dont see that bracket anywhere. Could it possibly be from under the dash somewhere, or did you go back that far with the removal of the cables?

There's 3 cables, one wiring harness and two vacuum hoses, so it could have been for any of them. All the screws were removed when the box itself was disassembled and the doors/flaps removed and replated, new gaskets installed, etc. Before I put the box back in, I looked everywhere on it for a possible location but since the cables were still in the car, I wasn't sure of their routing. Now that it's back in the car, I still don't see a likely location.

Thanks Bob, that's what I was hoping for, someone who could look on theirs. Yes, it certainly can be from another location, but I haven't had any better luck determining where that might be either. I didn't pull the cables, just the glove box and the radio.
Another one of those 'shoulda took pictures' task.
The clip is used to hold the vac. lines that go to the the vac. switch on the top of the heater/ac box. It mounts on the first screw to the left of the a/c control switch on top of the box. Depending on how much of the dash you have installed will determine how tough it will be to install. It is used to keep the vac. lines clear of the control levers. Hope this helps.
Thanks Mike, that was the position I considered the most likely when I had to box out, but just wouldn't commit to it. It also holds the wiring harness to the control switch as well.
As for how tough was it, the only thing not back in place was the glove box, so considering the screw comes through the flange from the firewall side, it was a PITA.
But it's in, I'm happy, and more still to do. Thanks again for the info.
