Default fan relay switch

I was wondering something. I have the DeWitts radiator with the electric fans that come on around 190 degrees. They work great. When I turn off the switch the fans turn off. I remember back in the 80's I used to have cars that the fans stayed on until the temp came down under the thermostat...I assume its ok that the fans turn off and dont come back on until the key is turned on again...right.

Well if you keep the fans turning you are just cooling the static radiator water. It will cool by itself (cooling fins) long before what is sitting in the block. It seems you would only really benefit if you could also circulate water after the engine has stopped turning.

thats true...I figured everything was ok. I just remembered I had a few cars in the 80's that the fan would continue to run after I turned the car off. I think one of them was a Honda CRX I had as a teenager.

thanks for the reply.

I remember that too, some cars still do it today. Anybody think they have an electric water pump too?
