Ongoing restoraton of 66 coupe....2 of the headlight pivot ***** were stuck tight on the shafts and corroded to the point of holes in the metal *****. How the shafts can become so completely fused to the bushings is amazing to me. I see there are plastic replacements for these pivot *****. Has anyone used these or have an opinion about using these parts other than the fact that they are not original.

Nylon won't rust or seize but also won't hold lubricant.

I used the plastic replacement *****. No problems with them.

I had to cut my old ones off, but I'm putting the stock replacement bronze/steel bushings back on. Just got to lube them up well. I'll be using lithium grease. With the new rubber and felt seals, hopefully they'll last at least 20 years.....
