327 Block Code
3959512, 327, 62-67,
2, Was also used for some replacement blocks ...
If this 327 is a replacement block would that be any reason to keep the block versus going to a 283 to match the original specs? -- Tired of saying "yeah I know the '61 didn't come with a 327 option..."
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Phil
That block is the wrong one for your car. It's not from a 1962 Corvette either. The '62 Corvette took a 3782870 block. Not sure what motor you have. But what do you care? It's not correct for your car. So it could be anything. Only you and your machine shop know whether it's worth rebuilding. Is it better than a 283? Sure, but so isn't a 350 and a 383. Are you also considering them? If you're not going to go on a search for a correct 283, you can use anything you want.
I don't understand what you mean by telling people that the '61 didn't come with a 327. You can fix that easy. Don't tell them. All small blocks look alike.
