Default Need carpet replacement recommendation

I need to replace the carpet in my 58'. It's a driver so I am looking at getting a good quality replacement and not interested in 100% NCRS.

Prices seem to vary greatly from $150 to $500 at various web vendors.

Does anybody know what the difference is and why the price variance? How do they handle fading, stains, etc?

On a similar note, is installing a heat or sound barrier under the carpet worthwhile at all?

Thanks,
-Dan

I think you'll find that a lot of what suppliers list is from Al Knoch. It's good stuff. As far as fading, any color will fade with long exposure in the sun

I installed the Frost King foil sided foam house duct insulation when I put new carpet in my 56. Took two rolls and one roll of foil tape. Well worth the extra effort and $35-$40 it cost.

Default Product & service

Definately Al Knoch's is the way to go.

Although their products are all considered excellent, and of the best quality available, their service is even better, can't go wrong with them

Great info, thanks!

As to the sound/heat barriers...do they really make a noticeable difference? Given that the car is a convertible I can't imagine it would make that much imact on the sound. I can see it helping with heat a little but how much difference do they really make?

Like I said in an earlier post, the Frost King is worth the money. It's only 1/8" thick, so it doesn't affect the carpet's fit and for $35-$40 and an afternoon's work, it's very time effective, since you will allready have the seats and the carpet out. It does reduce both the sound and the heat. Many have used the Frost King to help quieten down the LOUD C5's and I plan on doing the Frost King to my C5 this Spring. I purchased the Frost king and the foil tape at Home Depot. I also purchased my carpet from Al Knoch.
