My 63 swc headlights seem to work alright, but the dash lights will only brighten a very little. Where do I look first? Also, the directionals worked for about 3 days, then once in a while and now not at all. Any connection?
First thing I would do is change the Headlight switch. The contact on the dimmer portion gets corroded with the passage of time. As for the directionals try unplugging at the steering column base and spraying with contact cleaner from Radio Shack. Al W.

On my '62, dash lights hadn't worked from the day I bought it. Finally, I pulled the headlight **** back, saw a square hole next to where the shaft slides in. I got a can of LPS spray (don't remember if it was LPS 1, 2, or 3), put that thin plastic nozzle attachment into the hole & gave it a shot. I pushed the **** back in, twisted back & forth many times, repeated the whole thing whenever I remembered.
Coming back from a Cruise one night, all of a sudden the dash lights "glowed on"...I almost went sailing off the 2-laner! Been working ever since Cruz
