Can one put a C2 distributor in a C1 and use a C2 cable to drive the tach? If so how long of a cable will work (std C2 tach cable?) ? This 1960 has a late 400" small block with alternator.
Thanks,
Steve
All 62 Vettes used the tach drive off of the Dist. So using a cable off of a 62 would work (or I think any of the C1 fuelie engined vettes also used tach drive off of the Dist.).
But, if your tach was originally run off of the generator, then it is different in the revs per turn than the 62 or fuelie dist. tach drives (think the generator drives ran @ 1/2 speed compared with the dist. tach drive - if I am wrong, someone please correct me).
As for the dist. fitting and running properly, it will fit and be "close", but should really be gone through and dialed in for your 400 SBC. I trust that the dist. you are looking at putting in is a vacuum advance version.
Yes and maybe no.....hows that for an answer....
The C-2 distributor will fit and the tach drive is the same...except that most C-1's used a generator drive...and the tach had a different ratio.
The 62 tach and the C-2 distributor will work properly together. Other year C-1's will have to have the tach changed to a 62 tach either high or low red line.

I meant to say this is a 1962 Corvette and just had the tach rebuilt, so I should be ok with the distributor tach drive. Did 1962 Vettes all have distributor tach drives?
