Just got back from a rip around Phoenix.....have approx 575 miles on my newly rebuilt 66 327/350 L79 convertible - Runs strong, drives straight and I have such a big grin on my face it will be hard to frown again!! We rebuilt the motor with flat top 9.1 compression so runs great on pump gas, dyno'd at 329/322 (5600rpm) so feel good about the motor - and each mile it wants to run even better! Geez its great to feel the wind in your hair (and I still have some!), right hand rowing through the gears and the sound just "gets me off"! Cute blond sittin next to me (yeah, she even was convinced to marry me! )....does it get any better than this??? Guess not so Ok, I ready for the big garage in the sky!!

Sorry guys in snow country, just had to vent!!

I hate you!
but only because here on the east coast it's still cold and rainy plus my car is still in the paint shop.

In another month or so I won't hate you anymore!

I'm with you! Went on an extended trip around the block after the rebuilt tranny went in this past sunday. Was at a stoplight and two teenagers came out of the Walgreens on the corner and ran over to the car to check it out - I revved up the engine and they hollered and gave me thumbs up. Yep... car season is fast approaching.

Geez Mark, ever since you decided to put a "big block" in your coupe, your teeth have been falling out! Nice hat!

Donny: Numbers were taken on the dyno stand in the shop - took right after we had about 30 min's of break in done - we basically went 40 over, lowered the compression, massaged the heads, put all the good stuff back in and fired her up! I really wasn't trying to pull big numbers as this will be driven to many events, weekends, etc and just wanted a nice strong bullet proof motor! I felt good that if the factory was showing just under 350hp with 11 to 1, then the 329 with 9 to 1 is great! Now my good friend went overboard on his (as well as his wallet!) and he is pulling maybe another 40+ ponies......but, for the extra cash, I can drive mine (even at today's gas prices) for many years to come before I come up with what he has in his motor!!

Well, the weekend looks clear and sunny, so I better get back out in the garage and do some additional polishing before the sun comes up! Ron

The snow is going away...slowly. The salt on the roads remains. Perhaps late April? Jealous.

Glad to hear you finally got her back on the road, Ron. I've been itching to get my 63 out for a drive, but the weather hasn't been cooperating. It looks like we have a couple of sunny, 70 degree days in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.....hmmmm, I may just have to take one of my comp days.

Post some pics when you get around to it...I'd love to see them.

Oh, what a rush - YES
A wonderful rush it is too!!!! Took about a 5 mile spin in mine last weekend...first time out of the garage in 18 years!

Pulled the old Holley off last night and dropped that 650 Demon carb on and fired it back up - sweet! Going out again this weekend for an even longer spin...still no headlights or grill so it looks funny, but it DRIVES.

Hi Ron, I can relate too Just got the 65 365Hp, 4sp with Air (rare car) coupe from California and it has been all rebuilt mechanically. It has all new internal parts including roller rockers and Isky Z30 cam and runs absolutely wonderful . Give it gas after 1500 RPM and it literally wants to fly.

Now Dianne's 65 convertible has the engine being rebuilt, .60 over due to previous rebuild and scored cylinder. Soon we will both be on the road in our twin 65's, both Nassau blue with blue interiors.

Now I gotta sell the black 64 365hp but no rush.

Life is good and we are very fortunate to be able to enjoy it

Rons65,

Boy, I can relate to your "Rush". Had the '5 out yesterday and my sons came over today and "had to" take her out for a spin. Talk about passing the "rush" on to the next generation...nuthin but pipes and tires (I could here 'em 3 blocks away). Oh yeh!

Hey Donny, you got that 4.56 installed yet?

Keep on comin' spring!!

Enjoy!
