Vibrations
I have checked all steering componants , wheels , tyres etc and I am convinced it is coming from the motor .
I have just fitted new engine mounts ( standard side mounts ) is it possible one or both of these are "solid" rather than rubber ? does this fault occur in manufacture ?
For info the car is a 61 running with aftermarket suspension , coil overs and rack and pinion steering all new , the motor is a pretty standard 350 ci with a 350 auto box ( just rebuilt ) .
Any reccomendations on steering geometry set up for normal road use would also be appreciated .
TIA Mike .
The 350 box replaced a Muncie and all the mounts / adaptor plate are the same as used with that and there were no vibration problems .
The problem only seems to be on the engine over run or light / feathered throttle .
I will be replacining the box rear mount just as a precaution but it looks ok .
The engine was on the original 61 mounts before instalation of the new suspension but these needed to be removed to accomodate the new steering shaft for the rack and pinion , hence the introduction of the side mounts .
Thanks for your thoughts
Mike
