distributor dimple question

Put the rotor button on the distributor shaft top....
The dimple on the gear at the should be lined up with the tip of the rotor button.....always as they trun together....only two ways to put gear on....dimple in line with tip of button...and 180 degrees out...which could/will cause probelms with timing of motor as vac can will not be in correct place and can interfear.
