I have a teak wheel available to me, but both the seller and I are unsure as to whether it is original or repro.
Is there a way to differentiate the two??
I'm not any kind of an expert but my repro Teak wheel has sharper edges on the finger grooves than the original wheels I've seen which are very rounded and smooth. I'm not sure if this is representative of all repro teak wheels because there are a couple of outfits making them I believe.
I answered before your photo popped up. I'm not sure that wheel is an original or repro teak wheel for a Corvette. It only has three screw attachment holes which doesn't match my Corvette wheel. Also the spokes are different. The Corvette wheels don't have nearly as pronounced a radius in the spokes at the rim. That looks like its from something else. I can email a picture of my teak wheel but I haven't mastered inserting photos here yet.

I don't have a pic of mine before I installed it but this will give you a better idea of what a correct one looks like. The one that I have is one that I bought from Eric Freeman just a few months ago. Dave..
Well, judging from the pics & responses I'd say it's either a repro wheel or an Empi or the like. (It apparently has too few mounting holes and is different where the spokes meet the wheel itself to be original - it also seems to lack the seams in the wood that I see in youwish2bme's wheel)
So,......with that said, what do y'all feel is a fair price to the seller as well as to me, the buyer. Overall the wheel is is super-nice shape, with no nicks worth mentioning.
its definately not an original wheel...not a good replica either...if you want a good teak wheel..... Freeman Designs from north carolina are the people to see...exact replicas of the original teak wheels.
It may not adapt well to a Corvette either. The screw holes may or may not be on the right radius; a horn contact and button may not mount properly; the hub diameter may be different. I would at least expect you would have to drill some screw mounting holes.
