Working on my just bought 65 BB and find I have no vacuum advance on the distributor, it does have the tachometer drive and everything works great, the engine runs great and is a real screamer. I haven’t removed the cap yet, but am assuming it’s an electronic ignition.
Would it have an electronic advance?

My guess would be that you'll find centrifugul (mechanical) advance underneath the rotor. I think that a lot of the performance oriented aftermarket distributors don't provide vacuum advance, although you can get them from MSD, among others. If you have an external ignition controller, it is possible that it is dialing in advance electronically, but I would guess that the centrifugal is all that your engine is getting--and from your description of its performance, might be all that it needs!
You will find that a vacuum advance provides both better fuel economy (at both idle and cruise), and cooler running (especially at idle).
If those are not concerns, then the cent. advance only dist. works quite nicely.
Your dist. "could" have an electronic module tucked inside, which replaces the original points (I know of 3 versions available). But they do not have any additional advance (they just replace the points, and for optimum performance, the matching coil should also be used).

If it has a tach drive, it's either a Delco (cast iron) or an MSD (aluminum, with a separate red MSD box). If it's a Delco with one black wire out of it to the coil, it's a points distributor; if it has two wires (white and green/white), it's a T.I. distributor, with a remote amplifier mounted on the front of the radiator support on the passenger side. In either case, the original distributor had a vacuum advance unit (which has been removed).
