NCRS type distributor question

NCRS type distributor question
Although my car is strictly NotCRS, I was wondering; was the distributor part number tag installed on a painted distributor, or was it painted along with the distributor. I would imagine the unpainted tag was installed afterwards. Anyone know for sure?

I believe the tag was unpainted aluminum with one side of the tag color coded. When the tab was bent over to cinch the tag - that color code would show.

66BBCoupe is your distributor cap painted black. I thought that they were delco remey caps that were brownish in color
