i have found the best deals on ebay. make sure you check the sellers feedback before bidding. I have bought several 2812 carbs off of ebay and have had no problems.

well, you can get what you need from ebay, unfortunately as far as carbs go you can also end up with something like a frankenstein carb - assembled from various sources. As in all things ebay, you need to know what the thing you are looking for looks like, how it is supposed to be configured, etc. to be able to confirm the fact that what you are looking at in the picture is just what you need. The sellers often have no idea themselves what it is they have.

Don't know if seecar is looking for a Holley, but, for instance, you should start with an understanding of the date code since you have said you want to find the [appropriately] date-coded carb. The Holleys, at least, are coded with three digits (four if a service replacement) as year, month, and week of month.

aside from ebay, you can try cranes corvettes http://www.cranescorvette.com/

and Chicago Corvette (don't have their number handy)

for date coded carbs - have your particular carb model # and acceptable date code range handy when you call.

I'm looking for a Holley 3384505-DA (3367) date code of late October but before 8 November 1965. The vehicle was built 8 November 1965. Currently the vehicle has the correct carb but the wrong date code!

691, 692, 693, 694, 6A1, 6A2, 6A3, 6A4 would cover Sept and Oct 1966, date-code wise.

as for alternators and starters, John Pirkle is great source for show-quality, date-code correct pieces [works of art]. there are less expensive ways to go.

Craig Bartling redid my carb and he has a fair number of carbs that might meet your needs. His number is 770-682-0936, great guy.

I saw a crane's carb. It looked like a bad re-stamp with some non-correct pieces. I think I would stay away from them unless you get pictures of the date stamp, the metering block and the butterfly block areas prior to purchasing
