Default Anyone upgrade to power brakes?

I bought a booster and master cyl, but they don't look like what
I thought it would. Has any one upgraded on a 66?

This is the unit I bought. The lower brackets have bolts aready in them
and my 66 has studs coming from the firewall. The top brackets seem to
be to tall and would put the bolts at the very top of the firewall.
What gives? The part number is correct per this photo.

The bracket even looks differant on this one, not so tall.

thanks
chuck

I went through this same confusion - the bracket is correct - it goes up towards the edge. Two holes get drilled and a reinforcing plate with threaded holes go inside the vent wells. Bolts through firewall to reinforcing plate.

The general at his best...

ok, thanks I did also buy the plate but thought it would be lower.

Did you just knock out the studs in the fire wall were the lower ones
bolt up?

TX,

Cars with OEM p/b had a different pedal support ***'y that accepted the male threaded studs now on your lower booster bracket legs. They were then captured by nuts/lockwashers inside the car. If you are converting non p/b to p/b, these serrated studs can be removed from the lower booster legs (press out with vice grips) allowing you to use nuts/lockwashers on the engine side of the firewall. You'll have very little clearance to tighten the o/b nut, however, because of the close location of the booster. May need to fabricate or modify a wrench to work in that location for 9/16 hex nut. The upper booster mounting brackets will require you to locate & drill holes in your fiberglass under the windshield wiper grill to attach the nut plate/reinforcement. Further, plan on getting a p/b striker & attaching hardware for the brake light switch.

Thanks, I already drilled the holes and removed the bolts. I will
have to check on the striker.
