Default QUESTION! Rear axles driveshafts

Question: Have a 1965 Chev Corvette 4-speed with a positive track rear end. When removing and installing both axle driveshafts, be certain to position the carrier side yokes so that the trunnion seats are at 90 degree angles to each other. mine are not at 90 degree angles to each other; is this critical and if so, why?

It does not matter - they will move relative to each other the first time you turn a corner.

That's a well-known "brain fart" in the Service Manual; as Dave said, it makes no difference.

Thanks for the response to my question on 5/7/05; I have been out of town and am just now getting caught up on things. Thanks, again. Bobby Wells
