I have a '63 FI unit that was overhauled in '87 and worked great. Suddenly it won't idle well. I have tried adjusting the idle RPM's, but that makes it idle too high. It still runs great on the road.
I would check the Cranking Signal Valve on the front of the fuel meter.
Replace the short hose attaching it to the tubing from the main diaphragm with a 1' long section of vacuum hose. After starting the car, pinch that hose positively shut with a small C-clamp. If the CSV is working properly, this will have no effect on your idle quality. But if the unit will then idle like it used to....
