When the professional pulls a Bubba ...
A different project he has at his shop came about as follows.
A customer has a show quality mid year with original engine and fuel injection to a different shop to be rebuilt. In the process of the rebuild the mechanic suggested using rolling rockers in the heads to improve the engine.
Due to the height of the new rockers, when it came time to put things together there was not enough clearance for the valve covers. The problem was solved by using 2 valve cover gaskets instead of 1.
When everythig was tightened the FI unit didn't have enough cleance because the double gasket raised the height of the valve covers. No one noticed the problem and the FI unit was bolted on. A few hundred miles later a stange hissing sound was present. The FI unit was torque during re-installation and was now cracked.
No they have to redo alot of the engine work, plus try to get the FI unit welded to preserve the car's originality. Sometimes its better leaving well-enough alone.
Bubba strikes again.
Bubba strikes again.

Were the rollers, roller tipped rocker arms, or true rollers?
