Ignition Points (Wick/No Wick)
The ignition points currently in my car have a wick but the new set of AC Delco replacement points do not. What are the consequences of installing the new points without the wick?

I moved my wick from one set to the other. The theory is that the grease on the wick is supposed to reduce the wear of the points on the dist cam. I figured it could only help. I don't know if your new points set also cam with the little packet of grease

The grease put behind the rubbing block takes care of what the wick did. As the rubbing block wears, it always exposes and applies a film of grease to the block and cam.
