Been looking for a correct block for my 65 BB 396 and have found a few, my car was manufactured May 65, how much earlier should the block casting date be (one or two months).
Thanks for any help!

if you are going to go through NCRS, they usually allow up to a 6 month window on dates prior to the build date I believe.
That may not be the case on '65 396's though as they didn't start making the '65 BB cars until approx VIN# 13,000 which would be sometime around the middle or end of March which is only about 2 months prior to your cars build date. Was the 396 motor already in production and being used prior to it being introduced in the Vette? I don't know the answer to that but that may dictate the date range you can find.
If you find a correct dated block about one or two months out you should be safe I'd assume.

Of course, I may be way off base here but i'm sure others will chime in with better info.
