Growing up working in garages om the late 60's early 70's I don't remember any STANT brand cap coming out of the box being painted. My recollection is that all were like a shiny cad plate coming out of the boxes. I could be very wrong on this but it's what I remember.
This is another reason I personally can not get excited about an "original" piece, being it used for judging or not.
When an oil fill cap costs more than about seven dollars I can find something else to plug the hole.
I sent him a private message regarding his exclusion to offer the cap to anyone outside of the US, and then explained carefully where it should be inserted.
The original production caps were chromated with a dark greenish/black finish, not painted; the physical configuration looks good, but the finish isn't correct.
