I have a '66 (Feb 66) Silver/Silver roadster that has silver dash pads, visors & silver painted dash (radio surround, etc.) and console.
I have lately noticed that some are like mine but others have silver seats, etc., but black dash, console and dash pads....
Could one of you, more initiated than I, shed some light on the background on this disparity for me, please?
For '65 the instrument panel was black and carpet eas gray for silver interiors. Can't say for the '66. I' sure someone will come up with the info shortly. Hre is a photo of a '65 w/silver interior.
Silver was also available in two-toned interiors. Silver/Black, Silver/Blue.
Either way, the center seat pad and sun visors should match the seats (if memory serves)
Did the cars you saw also have black carpet, indicating the two-tone interior?
Mine has silver everything (including center armrest, center dash section, dash pads, visors, carpet, etc)), of which I've seen one or two that same way.
Others I've seen did not have the "traditional" two-tone look, but have black: painted center dash, console & dash pads, but silver center arm rest, door panels and carpeting.
My visors have no dye on them and O/W look original, ditto the dash pads.... but obviously I'm no expert..
I hate to jump in, but I also have a question about the center dash paint. I am redoing the ENTIRE interior in our 65 coupe. I have to repaint the center dash (Black). What brand or type paint is used to get the correct color/finish?
Thanks.
Rick.

I have seen SEM "Trim Black" used with pretty nice results. You might also want to do a search here on the site & gather other opinions.
