Default C1 windshield question

Took w/s apart to replace rock hard gasket. Followed Service Manual and was doing good until I got to the part that said remove upper moulding from upper channel. I can't get them apart.

The upper channel is shaped like a U and the moulding is more like a G. The problem is the the small tail on the G is inside the U and the mounts on the moulding don't allow enough slack to twist it off and you can't slid it off because of the bow in the channel.

Is the moulding suppose to come off? Should the moulding go inside the channel or does it simply side over the channel from the top? Any help would be greatly appreciated

John;
The moulding is removed by using a smooth blunt object like a table knife (dont tell your wife what you are using it for) and starting at one end gently spread and pry the moulding over the channel working from one end to the other. Once you get one end started it gets easier. Installation is reverse of removal. Spread one end and get it started and then push it on. One side is supposed to slip over and hook the channel and the other side remains outside the channel. Hope this helps.

K2,

Thanks for info. Guess there really isn't any reason to remove the moulding as indicated by the service manual. I think I'll just leave it alone and put the windshield, gasket and frame together.

Again, thanks.
