Default frame help...

I have been measuring my 75 for the backhalf i am installing. the driveshaft and tranny are offset 2 inches towards the passenger side of the frame. another CF member posted that the pinion was offset 1/2 inch towards the pass side. i can't duplicate that info with a tape measure or documentation. Although i am sure he is correct i would like to see some official documentation of this before i spend $$$ on a 9 inch housing, axels, etc... I have an AIM but can't find anything that addresses the pinion offset in there. anyone know where i can find some documentation like that.
thanks
Greg

Offset in the rear is usually true with a solid axles, but the rubber axle cars are equal on each side. So, the rear is in the center on the C2 and C3 cars. Yes, the engine and the drive train are off set, but that gradually decreases as you go rearward.

If i remember right - if you measure the rearward crossmember (the one with the diff mount on it) it is slightly offset - not as much as the motor but it still isn't perfectly centered - I do know that the half shafts are the same length so it must even out somehow...

panchop.
'69 Chassis service manual has an excellent frame drawing (plan & elevation views).
FWIW I can send you a scan.

I'm guessing at some of this but I know the yokes, halfshafts and trailing arms are equal dimension on both sides so the differential is centered to the frame. However, because of the alighnment of the differential gears, the pinion shaft and yoke is probably not on the centerline of the frame - thus the front differential mount which is alighned with the pinion shaft, is probably offset on the crossmember slightly too.
