I read all the old posts beofre I posted this question .... like a good CF member.
Did any one who used the Frost King duct wrap insulation for sound / heat deadening under their carpet STILL use the jute padding on top of it?
Not sure if there is room for both, and ordering carpet soon. Don't want to order the jute if it's not needed, and don't want issues with 2 / 3 layers being
too thick.
And the heat barrier / duct wrap was silver side DOWN to the fiberglass, right?
I would like to know also. I have some of that silver backed material that was going in a street rod I sold. Their instructions said silver toward the heat source, but in EVERY street rod mag., when you see a picture of a project car, before carpet, the silver is up towards the passenger. I think I like this better as the glue for your carpet would attach to this better than jute to jute. By the way, I have al knockt (sp?) that I am putting in. Darrel
For the best effect, put the silver material under the car with the silver facing the exhaust pipes and engine heat. That way you protect the fiberglass floor AND keep cool.
Check it out at the bottom of the Details page, linked off my homepage (listed below). Seal the edges with high temp clear caulk to keep water and oil off the adhesive.
