My son and I are showing the Corvette tomorrow and just finished this poster. Good, bad, too much, too little, does it make sense?

Cool stuff.... I like it but I think the posting of anti-NCRS is enough and that there really aren't that many NCRS ****'s are not the majority but a small group. I think a lot of what people perceive as ****'s are people trying to help with making others vettes better... I tell people all the time if it were not for the NCRS we would have crap for aftermarket parts... Dave..

Dave, take a deep breath! No harm intended, just thought the comparison was light hearted fun (at our expense) and would draw some attention to our car.

No I understand.. I have a Not Correctly Restored Stingray mentality. Like I said I like it... I just run into a lot of people especially C3er's that think the NCRS is a bad thing... I think I'm going to print off one of Stepin's posters just to **** of the NCRSer's... My car is far from being a CORRECT car so I'm with you man.. Dave..

The car should stand on its own. If what you change enhances the car then it will be appreciated if it is done well. Belittleing NCRS just takes away from what should be a chance to showcase the car.

I have been involved with putting on NCRS regional events for almost 20 years. I have had my share of disagreements with some of the 'guidance' we have had to follow but it is after all a club of volunteers. Over these years they have established it as the model being followed by other collector car groups in order to help stop the fraud being imposed on buyers. Just think without NCRS you would have the only 'Bloomington Gold' methodlogy. Both have their place but I think the NCRS methodlogy is much better suited to the hobbiest which most of us are.

I at least understand what NCRS motives are and while the 'not correctly restored' idea is amuseing, just what is the motive here; I find those at the forefront there more interested personal attacks on people rather than focusing on the cars and helping people see/understand the effort some go into these cars.

Let me give you an example. I have a friend doing a 57 almost from scratch, he is doing some really inovative things with the car but you will not find him sitting around bashing NCRS or its people he is out in his garage innovating and when it gets done we will have it at the NCRS show as a 'Sportsman' display and it will stand on its own against any NCRS restoration.

Here is how he works. He decided he wanted a spoiler on the rear and came up with this design first which I liked:

http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/wayne_spoil1.jpg
http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/wayne_spoil2.jpg

Then decided that he had a better idea and came up with this:

http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/spoil1.jpg
http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/spoil2.jpg
http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/spoil4.jpg
http://www.sirgalahad.org/tyler/misc/spoil5.jpg

What you see was a lot harder to execute than you realize as he had to deal with the curves and getting it to sit exactly flush.

Again, you want to be different let your work speak for itself. If you have to resort to belittleing the work/effort of others to promote your own agenda/work then it only undescores that maybe your work does not meet the standards needed to stand on its own.

There are others on this forum that are doing work like this and in my mind their work/innovation take the back seat to no one. Their work speaks for them and we all hear them and enjoy seeing what they have done just as I enjoy seeing a restoration done by some one like John Neas or the Nabors brothers.

The book of corvettes has many chapters and I love reading them all. But going around denigrating with malice others in the hobby should not be a point of pride.

I made a similar comment in the "Not Correctly Restored Stingray" (misspelled) thread, but it's applicable here... it's fine to enjoy your custom ride but when you jump on the "bash NCRS" bandwagon, you look like you are making excuses or looking like you feel like you owe people an explanation. I have met some snotty, true jerks at NCRS but the fact is, there's jerks all over and there's mostly some real nice people w/NCRS.
I've shown a couple of custom Corvettes heavily over the years and on my signs I carefully detailed the work and modifications, but I never acted like I owed anyone an explanation or worse, an apology.

Well said. I see people with "yeah, they made Corvettes after (blank year), but who cares?" T shirts at shows... I want to smack them, take away their keys and drop them off at the Ford dealer's.

what does that poster have to do with NCRS or making fun of NCRS. seems like he's just joking about his car. seems cool to me. I don't see any mention of NCRS there at all. Also lets him deflect the inevetable "you didn't do it right " comments from people no matter if they are affiliated with that particuler orginazation or not.

Why all the NCRS stuff ? It does not seem to be bashing the NCRS to me. Maybe I'm missing something. Cool poster. I'd like to see a picture of the car.

I could not get the link to work last night and assumed from the second post that it was aimed in that direction. It is a cool poster and will surely get a lot of attention. Sorry abount the rant but it was late and finally hit my button.
