Hey, I'm a softee. I would feel like crap if I was in the same situtaion with my '66. From the looks of his feedback, he has sold a bunch of Vette parts. I shot the guy 10 bucks. Good Karma with the Vette gods

"recent divorce and a huge business failure, I have lost almost everything I had, except this car"

Hey I'm sorry - I think this guy has his priorities screwed up - if that was me - I would sell the car - simplify my life and focus all my energy and effort on putting my life back togeather. I would embrace the family and friends I have - buckle down and focus on earning income and rebuilding my financial base.

When I was successful and stable again - I would get another toy.
Don't get me wrong - I feel for the guy - but with judgement like his - I can appreciate why he lost his wife and his business.

We all have to sell our stuff at times when we wish we didn't.

Can I even begin to count the cool cars that I had to let go of to keep food on the table and the wolf away from the door?

Maybe the owner of this car could get a second job to earn his $3,000 ??

Personally I've had to do that as well.

The reason I still have the car is it was the only thing not financed and it was in 1000 pieces, so it would be difficult to sell and get a fair price. Not to mention the 1000 hours of labor I have invested. Everyone knows you can't get paid for that!!!
By the way, I am working 2 jobs at this time and selling everything I possible can.

I didn't lose my wife or business because of bad judgement, my wife and I split mutually after 14 years (of course it was a big financial blow, I let her keep the house and 1 car) and my business partner stole $150,000.00 from our company, then he filed bankruptcy and I have no recourse since he no assets now. Believe it or not BAD things can happen to good people .

I do have 2 jobs, and I have sold everything that I can and still am short.

I fail to see how one's decision to keep their 90% complete 1965 Corvette in the face of a bankruptcy, when that person is obviously adept at placing an ad on ebay, counts as anything other than a selfish and financially irresponsible decision - one that does not tug at my Corvette heartstrings nor justify a donation from me to fund something the recipient can ill-afford or justify. If holding on to your Corvette in the face of horrifying financial setbacks is your thing (that's fine with me, btw) so be it, but asking me to contribute to your skewed priorities is a bit much.

Well, if you had given away your house and your 82 vette to your ex-wife, then had $150,000.00 stolen from your business by your partner, then you would fully understand my situation, but since you haven't, maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge. I guess if trying to hang onto the only thing that motivates me to get up and face the day, then I am guilty of your charges. I had expected fellow vette lovers to show caompassion for someone who is down and is fighting everyday to get back up. You don't have to donate or help, I was only looking for people with love and compassion.

I have lots of love and compassion for Vette owners, and will gladly help you fix up you 65, even wrench on it with you if you are close by - but I have never asked any member here to send me money to help me pay for my labor of love - if something reduces me to asking strangers for money, it's a good sign that I cannot afford it.

I am sorry to hear about your misfortunes, however, and I do agree that bad things happen to good people, and vice versa.

I respect your opinion, if nothing else comes out of this, we have had fun with the forum and it has opened up alot of thoughts, so maybe we all can learn something from this. I hope you have a good day
