Speedometer quit!
While taking an afternoon drive today in my '64, my allegedly rebuilt (in 2003 by previous owner) speedometer quit suddently, with no prior signs of problems, such a bounce here or there. I had the transmission (Muncie close ratio) out a few days ago, so I wonder if the cable wasn't hooked up correctly when it was reinstalled.
In any case, any ideas out there relative to such a sudden speedometer failure?

If it were me, I'd first do a visual and make sure the cable is secured properly at both ends. Assuming this to be correct, go to the transmission, disconnect the cable and pull out the drive cable to inspect. Make sure the top end of the cable has the square end of the cable still intact. While you are below, pull out the drive gear and inspect the plastic drive gear. Assuming all is well - I would then assume the speedo is the culprit. You then need to pull the cluster to inspect the speedo.
