Does anyone know a good company that sells engines that will work with a 58'? More specifically I am looking for a 450 Big Block, although I am having trouble tracking one down.
And does anyone also know if you can get dual-intake / dual-exhaust on a 450 big block, I don't see why not - but I thought I'd check.

You'll have a number of problems with getting a big block into a '58. The car was not designed for it, and will present a number of problems. The front crossmember for the balancer, the stock hood dcoesn't have sufficient clearance, there are no appropriate locations for engine mounts, and the springs are not beefy enough to support the additional weight of a big block. I'm sure there are other issues, as well.
It has been done before, however. It's mostly a matter of what your goal is, and how much you can spend towards it. If you're simply looking for a high-torque, you might want to spend your money on an LS engine or one of the 400+ ci small-block engines.
Regardless of which way you go, keep us informed. We love watching cars coming together.
Okay, I will definatley look into that then. Do you know where to get these engines? With the exception of Edelbrock and GM Goodwrench, I can't find any that sells engines.
This months Chevy Hi Performance magazine has an extensive listing of crate engine manufacturers. I'm sure there's something in there that will fill your need.
