Been using Sal Zaino's product for too many years now on every car i've owned.. I can't believe people now have heard of him and he has a fancy web site..where you can order without having print out an order form..He even has t-shirts..Time was I think he was working out of his garage.. and ordering was a little bit of a pain
Great product. easy to use now that he combined the first 2 steps into one
If you are looking for longer lasting protection, the paste waxes are always preferable. Liquid waxes are diluted with water for ease of application.
I like the Meguiar's line of products, Gold Class or the new NXT wax.
I do the 3 steps on all my vehicles, clay bar, pure polish, wax.
I avoid any products with abrasives such as 1 step cleaner / polishes.
The clear coat on your vehicle is only a few mils (thousands of an inch)
thick. No need to remove any of it unless you have severe oxidation.
The clay bar will remove any surface contaminents.

I have used everything over the years. I had been using Meguiars products until I discovered Zaino. This stuff is unbelievable. Use the Z-2 polish and the Z-6 spray detailer between polishings. Best shine I have ever seen and easy to use. Available on their web site "Zaino Brothers". Someone was selling it at Carlisle last year.
I learned the secret is to get the wax on in a very thin coat. (I had always believed you need to get a "good, thick coat" on there).
I can get a thin coat on there easier with paste. I feel like I don't waste as much with paste either since it doesn't soak into the applicator. Paste is easier to keep from getting into the trim badges also.
But paste seems harder to wipe off where liquid is easier to wipe off.
For me; and I leave my cars outside in the hot Southern California weather; I find paste wax lasts longer. Plus bugs and bird poop doesn't stick as much when I have paste on there.
Since we are on the topic, my applicator pad is blue when I am done applying the wax. My car is original laquar, and I know it will give some up, but it always is uneasy looking at a blue applicator pad when I am done.
Gold Class is a mild cleaner wax. You should try Meguiar's #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. It's a carnauba wax with no abrasives.
Use detailing clay to remove surface contaminants. It won't scrub the paint and it won't remove paint. It will remove the soot and sap that even cleaner/wax won't really get off.
Use plenty of lube with the clay and don't rub it over a dry surface. If you drop the clay throw it away or else you'll scratch the p!ss out of your paint.
After a good claying (takes about 1/2 hour) then put a coat of pure wax. Use microfiber cloths to buff the paint. (make sure to remove all labels).
