Pictures may be the same, but the part numbers are differant.
I think the only differance is a provision for the F.I. on the 65 housing.

There were 5 different distributor covers used on midyear small blocks. (2 in '63, 1 in '64, 1 in '65, 1 for '66/'67) Send me an email if you'd like a sketch.
Regarding your question, in the '66 & '67 (p/n 3882700). the 'depression' in the front (where the front grounding clip attaches) is in a lower position than that of the '65 or earlier. This was for added clearance in the vicinity of the 'new' '66/'67 air cleaner. Look at your shield at eye level from the left (driver side). If the height of the front vertical section is ~2-1/2", you have something from '63-'65. If it is more like 1-1/4", it is a '66/'67. (Yes; all rear slots still had 'carb' & 'FI' stampings since it became a service replacement for earlier years.)
