Mice alert
cars in storage and garage spaces. Had put decon in our attic and had a mouse die in our garage hidden inside of tool that was stored next to the vette. Talk about bad smell and it took almost a week to find the critter.
Can't imagine if he had passed on to never never land in the vette and how I would have ever got the smell out. Word of caution, think checkable traps are a better alternative. Good luck everyone.
Moth *****
Steel Wool (can't chew through it)
Dryer Fabric Softener sheets.
WD-40
Dish Soap
Traps, the kind were they check in, and don't check out. Get the kind that traps them in the unit, so they don't run off and die in the car. Keep this kind near the car.
Get the spring snap traps for an "outer perimeter" defense.
Don't put a box of moth ***** in your car, it will stink like formaldehyde in your car for years.
Put the dryer sheets in the car, buy the HVAC outlets, ducts, etc.
Chain a cat to the garage door.
Buy one of those body bags for your car, unzip it, and drive the car in.
Don't store anything of a food source in the building that your car will be. Or items for nesting.
My neighbor stores his old cars in a cold storage shop with a concrete floor. He jack the car up, puts a large oil pan under the tire with a couple of blocks of some sort in the oil pan. So the tires all sit in oil pans, on pads, then puts about 2 inches of tranny fluid in the pans. He never has had a problem. Sounds like allot of work, but he tried everything for years, and came across this one day and it works for him. No traps, nothing, and no mice in his cars.

Another variation is to used some plastic pails (like old ones for sheetrock compound), fill about 1/4 with old anti-freeze then take a broom handle, spread peanut butter in the middle and rest it on top of the pail. Mice (rats) smell the peanut butter, go out on the handle, it rolls - splat, dunk.
Lesson #1 Do not store your dry dog food in the garage.
#2 Glue traps work great, even on your cat (yes the cat came
back with one stuck on his head), you and your kids
if you ever step on one of the dam@ things your in for
a treat.
#3 Try not and use something that potentially could kill
something that would eat the little critters after they are
poisoned.
So, that led to the internet search that found this link

The Rat zapper 2000, I know it sounds like it should be sold by Acme on the Bugs Bunny show but these things work great!! It's reusable (uses batteries) and zaps em dead, has a little LED light that lets ya know you bagged one. I bought two and barbequed about six mice in the first couple of days. I think a cooked every mouse in the county the first year I bought them and only had two last year. Time to put some fresh batteries in the Rat zapper and see if any dare to enter this year. Good Luck!

I had a problem with my 32 ford and my corvette. The mice got into both vehicles during the winter months. I lost the headliner in the ford and the mice chewed up my insulation on the firewall of the interior in the corvette. I got lucky that they did not do anything else in the vette. I was at a swap meet/car show in Grand Rapids MN when I ran across a flyer advertising a product called "Fresh Cab." I purchased two boxes of this stuff to try since I haven't found anything else that worked. Not even dryer sheets. Tried Irish Spring soap, moth *****, etc. everything everyone recommends. Nothing worked adequately. I put this in my cars last winter. Did not have a mouse in the storage building all of last winter. Not sure if it was from this or not but it seemed to work on the inside of the vehicle. They have a web site. It is "freshcab@uslink.net." They also have a toll free number. 866-800-7028. They are out of the Minneapolis area. Price is $12.50 per box and you will get four hanging pouches to place in the units. The smell is all herbal. My wife hates the smell but if it keeps the mice out, I can always air it out in the spring when I get the cars out. Hope this helps some of you.
