I put new wiring harnesses on my 65 this summer but never had the ocassion to drive at night until this past week end. It seems as though while in low beam mode, low beam on left side is on and both are on at the right side. When switched to high beam mode, both are on at the left side and low beam only is on at the right side! WTF?
Bob I don't know what is happening but I do know that the wires for high and low are spliced in front of the rad on the drivers side. A single wire might come from the firewall past the rad and then it is spliced into 2.
A better way to wire headlights is with relays and a direct wire from the alternator. This relieves all pressure from the headlight switch and dimmer switch since now all it is doing is activating relays. The switches last forever and you get brighter lights also. Any wiring problems are also taken care of.
I post a long time ago on this. Here is a link if you want to check it out http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...threadid=37379

There's an error in some of the factory wiring diagrams for the headlight circuit, and the harnesses are made to the diagram; if your harness is from Lectric Limited, give them a call and they should be able to give you the fix.
I looked at all the threads and it seems like that is the unamous thing to do but I am a unsure of the exact wiring. The threads that I accessed no longer had the wiring diagrams linked (unless they never did). Anyway, if you wire the power side directly off the alternator, how does the light switch & dimmer switch control the power function?
