Ineed to touch up a few places on a 62 painted fawn beige. Are there any suppliers of lacquer paint?

I got 2 gallons of PPG Duracryl Ermine White LAcquer from Autocolor last year. Unfortuntately the color wasn't even close. We ended up mixing a gallon of RM white lacquer with it to get it to match the original color under the windshield molding. We also had trouble spotting it in afterwards to do some touch-up.

Maybe others will have better experience.

I used autolibrary.com (http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/scri...gm=aclgate.bbx)
and was able to mail-order the lacquer paint to my doorstep.

If you go through the selection menu, you get the original paint color chips and order #.

The color match was good (not perfect). I bought a pint and had them put some in a aerosol can and the rest in a can - the aerosol was pretty cool for out of the way painting such as the door jams and inside the trunk. I used canned paint to fix the door dings with a small brush - worked well.

I was told by a vendor at the Knoxville Show that PPG had the correct lacquer paint for these cars but that they were soon going to do away with their lacquer product line. Fawn Beige is also a hard color to touch up so if you can get the paint, have a good paint shop help with blending it in.

Thanks for the help. I will e-mail or call the vendor. It is good to know that they can put some in a spray can. I believe I can get the results as I do have friends that paint. I also painted a street rod a few years ago with laquer and had good results. Darrel

It's extremely difficult to get a perfect match now a days. Even though the paint is mixed to the original formulas the tints and shades of the base mixing paints have changed over the years. As a result, you can't get a perfect match.

Give Hibernia Auto Restorations a call in New Jersey. This place also still offers the old fashion lacquer (Nitro Cellulose) or the acrylic lacquer that came on your Vette. My 70' Monte Carlo has the old fashion lacquer painted on it. I purchased it from Hibernia. Here is their address, phone number and link to their website.
