How do most people store their hardtop if not on the car? I was looking at Eckler's and they had a hoist for around $150. It seems like some of you "crafty" people out there have probably figured out an easy way to do this with items from the local Home Depot......
I have bought a Fritzi Hooker hoist strap from CapitolWest.com (the best hoist strap for the money in my humble opinion) then I got an electric hoist from Harbor Freight and secured it to the rafters in my garage. You can do the whole thing for $200+/-. I also have a cart that I got from CapitolWest.com that comes with a cover. In the summer, for longer periods, I keep the top on the cart. In the winter here in the south one is subject to topless weather occasionally so I leave it hanging on the strap.
those things sure get in the way,,huh?? i bought one of those covers, and just store mine up in shop rafters....not perfect, but all i got...one good tip,,tie a wire between the mounting brackets,,,the tops seem to spread while off the car
I just took mine down from the rafters, it was hanging on hooks for 3yrs. When I went to put it back on the car I found that it had spread a little but not enough to cause any problems .
I built a real basic cradle out of 2X4s to hang my pick up camper top. It is bolted to the roof trusses in the garage. The Corvette top fits very nicely inside the camper top on the same cradle. Two people can easily remove or return the top to it's resting place and it sits high enough for me to walk under it no problem.
