My 66 Coupe goes in for paint next week. It was painted silver/lacquer back in 1974. Going to Urethane/clearcoat this time. I am going to stay with the silver. Does anybody have a favorite silver they have seen on a C2. A brand, a color code or a car manufactuer. Just looking for suggestions.

My favorite color of all time (Silver or otherwise) is Pewter Silver. It was used on Corvettes only in 1972 and the code is 924. It was also used on a few other GM cars during that period.
When I finally get around to giving my '64 Coupe its much needed paint job, if I don't stick with the current Daytona Blue, it'll become Pewter Silver.
Silver is our color. I have 5 cars and trucks and 2 trailers and all are silver. We just got through painting our new 41 ****** silver. Our 57 BelAir was painted 95 Dodge truck silver, but my wife's 4-Runner beats any silver I have seen. That is what went on the ******. It is 93 Platinum Silver. If you are interested in a good picture of the color on a ******, I would be glad to email you one. But, regardless any silver will do.

Pewter Silver (Code 14) was not just a Corvette Color in 1972. Pewter Silver is the original color for my 1972 Nova. Great Color! In some light it looks like a deep silver and in other it looks almost like a Mosport Green (Code 982).
Let me know what you decide and how it turns out. I'm going to paint mine next year. Most likely silver pearl which is the orginal color, but only open to ideas.
Silver Pearl is a great color for the 65-67 Vettes, but I must admit I am partial to silver cars. Light Pewter is a nice color on the 98-02 Vettes, although it has a lot of metallic in it and may not look right on a midyear. If a color looks good on one style of car, it may not look as good on a different style car.

Haven't seen one on a C2, but I do write down colors that I see on cars on the street. Here are a couple I liked enough to note:
I'm not positive of the year, but I think about 2002 VW Passat... sort of a light pewter with a hint of green. This one really pops out at you when hit by direct sunlight, gorgeous!
Also Porsche 911 of about 1980 vintage... silver tending toward tan, or a sort of "smoky" silver
Seen the new chrome paint at the car shows? It really does make a car look chrome plated.
Nobody has mentioned it yet, but my favorite is "Sebring Silver", only available (extra cost) in 1963. That said, I think most silvers eventually wind up gray. The absolute best silver I've ever seen was on a brand new (2005) Aston Martin in the paddock at Monterey this year. I new it was the best because it was parked right next to a brand new silver Mercedes (which is normally the high water mark), but there was NO comparison. Tha Aston was maybe 10 times more brilliant, with that much more metallic....it looked like diamonds in the paint coat.
I saw a fresh Sebring Silver 63 coupe @ a Car Show
I must agree with the Sebring Silver. At a local car show a couple of moths ago I saw a 63 SWC in Sebring Silver (black interior). The car took first place in its class (solely based on the paint job IMHO.) Honestly, the 63 looked gorgeous in that color. It had sort of a pearl metallic finish to it. Really popped in the sunshine. The new owner did not know the history of the paint job, only that it had been completed before he bought the car this year. That's my vote and I'm sticking to it.
