Default Question about emblems.

Well, my corvette just went into the body shop a few days ago. One of the first things that I have to do is to locate where the emblems go. Most of the holes were filled in by my father-in-law. Why I don't know. Anyway, once I locate the holes, how do the emblems get attached to the car? Do the emblems need the self tapping nuts to secure them?? Or do they push in?? Please let me know. Thanks. John.

The emblems are all attached with speed nuts. Having said that, I used to have a friend who carried his emblems in his car in a Crown Royal bag and whenever he showed his car he would just pop them on the car. Afterwards, he would take them off and put them back in the bag. He said it made it easier to clean the car and the emblems.

I replaced my rear logo and left the speed nuts off, I can easily pop it off to clean under. It never moves a bit when the car is used...holes have just enough friction to keep it in place.
Try it!! ...

When I replaced the front logo, I tightened down the speed nuts while reaching around the hood and made a small dent in the glass by overtightening.

BE CAREFUL when tightening, those speed nuts have steep threads and go on quickly!!!!!!!

Actually it's quite easy, if you happen to have one arm that is about 12" longer then the other, and you can flex it in three different joints.

P.S. Go with Nassau's recommendation of using friction only. You will thank yourself, the next time you wax the Corvette

Essentially you have to remove the rear valence, and having the tank out really helps!
