how did the intake mani reinstall go for you? I assume smooth. Noticed you left the intake mani bolts black, weren't you going to hit em with some silver?
Jack
the install on the intake went fairly smotth. I had a friend help me with it since I know that if done incorrectly the intake can easily leak so wanted a little assistence from someone who had done it before. It wasn't hard, but it was nice to have help to make sure it was done right.
yep, i didn't realize the new bolts were black and didn't get a chance to hit them with silver paint before installing them but they aren't so bad leaving them black. It may be "incorrect" but the black is a nice contrast to the aluminum. I can always remove them and paint them at a later date if I chose but for now they will stay as is.

not "incorrect" as TIM&JG allows for either, I believe. I had the correct ones in hand (black) but saw that the JG permitted silver appearence (due to the use of silver spray paint to touch up the intake) so I hit mine with silver rattle can first before install since I liked the all silver look is all.
true, the bolts themselves ARE suppose to be black, than they were covered with silver paint during assembly. I would have liked them to have been silver and would have hit them with paint before installing them but didn't realize (or forgot) they were black until I opened the box of them 5 minutes before we needed tham. We already had the Permatix applied to the motor so I wasn't going to take an extra 30 minutes to paint them and wait for them to dry.
I like the silver look also but will live with them black for a while and if it really bothers me I'll remove them and paint them. Really, the black against the silver isn't TOO bad. You may notice I DID paint the heads where you can see it between the intake and the valve covers silver and used the repro gaskets that are cut correctly for the intake. That's a lot better than seeing the blue of the old "universal" gaskets that were there.

yes, I certainly recall your sensitivity to the blue Felpro gasket showing in those areas.
I am sure you will now be proud to show off your engine compartment, esp with the restored carb going on there - looks really great, you;ll hate the first time you get caught in the rain when driving . . .
I hate getting caught in the rain NOW with the way this car leaks!
getting the car jacked up and on stands during this little project really allowed me to see how dirty the underside is getting. When I bought the car you could have eaten off the bottom of the car it was so clean. I need to spend some time under there now cleaning up everything. It's not too bad, but road dust and getting caught in a few rain showers takes their toll and it needs a good wiping down.
yeah, i know, i'm obsessed with cleaniness..........
"Hello, my name is Barry and i'm a Corvette cleaniness addict........ "
hmmmmm, wonder if there is a 12-step program to cure this?
