Folks,
I had the pleasure of firing up the engine for the first time today (in the car..) After taking the time this morning to finish some assembly, it fired up on the first try. No leaks. Yes, it is VERY loud. Tomorrow I head 4 miles to the exhaust shop to have them weld the collector fastener to the side pipes. I might have them add an additional hanger to the front of the side pipes for some added support.
Here's a few recent pics
OK, your turn Mike! I'll take some measurements this weekend
Thanks again to all for the support. AND yes, I will replace the rubber gas line.
Looks great! Yes my turn, I got mine into the garage about 1:00 today.
Could you give me the part numbers for your upper and lower Gates rad hoses. Mine will be a little longer coming along as I still have to do wiring, and a body drop etc.

Yes, I wish we lived closer. Could use some help from time to time. The upper and lower hoses came from corvette central. A bit pricy, but they are molded and correct.
Hey Mike, now comes the fun part. It's really amazing how fast it all goes back together. No doubt you'll be shredding tires this spring.
That's the plan! I got these old 21 year old tire that I can't really trust to drive on at speed, so I'll just cruise around town til she's all broke it (clutch and engine), Then see if I can turn them tires in to two puddles of oil on the street.
Ok, now for a really stupid question. How are you getting those engines in without modifying the hood. I had to go back to the stock intake and carb in order to use my stock hood. Are you planning on using a hood scoop? Thanks, Dan
By the way, very nice pictures of both setups.

I had mine out several times. Wicked fast. Almost scary. we'll, not that scary really. Just hold on.
I went to a local muffler shop to have the collector ends welded on the side pipes. When I got there, I noticed it was one of these quick lube places. The folks working there did not seem to have any experience. There was a guy in the waiting room that called me outside and said not to have them do anything but an oil change. He has a 32 hot rod and gave me the place to go. It's not far and I've already called the guy. He does all kinds of exhaust and is in to hot rods. Good enough for me.
Besides, this gives me another ride for the day. Heck, I'm sure the neighbors already like me after two days of open headers!!!
More later.
PS, I had a little of oil leakage from the hard gauge line connection to the block. I put the plug back in for now. I was thinking about getting a regular oil gauge. I was also thinking about a volt gauge too. I've never had the amp gauge working in this car. Connections are fine, and I'm not sure what it would do with the 100 AMP alt (one wire hook up). I was thinking about replacing the amp and oil gauges with autometer oil and voltage gauges. comments?
I measured the distance from the air horn to the top of the block at 7-3/4". I'm going to just put the heads and manifold/carb on the old engine today and see what the difference is. The old setup had a single plane holley dominator on it which I could just barely get to clear, and that's a pretty tall manifold.
I'm hoping it's close enough where I can just shim the body up a tad, as it needs it in the front any way.
