It is slow for me to and I have cable much slower then befor.I wish they could of added the new good things to the old one.Then it would be real cool.

Seems like the page never completey loads..
Pictures take forever..
I'm turning mine off..
I have a cable modem hate to think of others on a phone line..
I thought it was my connection, but other sites work just like before so my guess is.. server here is slow.
I feel like I'm on a 9600 modem...
I'm sure they will fix it :rolleyes:
Until then, I will stay on the sidelines..

Yep. It is slow, and I also use a cable modem. Probably the new software and all the attached bells and whistles...some fun, others just unnecessary. Lots of new little creatures, I see.... :crazy: In the prime words of Arslanian...

You guys haven't heard? Connections with cable modems are restricted for bandwidth now on the Internet. There were too many being sold, and Al Gore wasn't getting his royalties.

Oddly enough, I thought the new software was quicker and I'm on the other side of the pond. I don't have a cable, just a 56K modem.
I am now using IE and it seems to be quicker than when I used Netscape (lost it thanks to sircam...)

I'm on a dial-up modem and standard phone line to my ISP (normally get a 48K connection to the ISP), and to AOL from there via TCP/IP, and it doesn't seem to run any slower than it did before - just lucky, I guess

How is it now?
The server load with this new software is much lower than the old software. Dramatically lower, in fact.
If you are still getting a slow response time please post your operating system and browser makes/release.

The new format is faster - it took a while to see the "log in" link - "help" never works - where is the spell checker? - used links are hard to see (no contrast) - as are used titles (also no contrast).
Over all - a big improvement. :cheers:

It seems that it was my connection..
Speeds have been back to normal now..
The system seems to have a good layout and functions well..
I do have one thing that seems to bother me though..
On the old system when I returned to the forum later in the day or the next day I could tell the posts that were new or updated by looking at the color of the title.. The new system doesn't seem to do that consistently.
Sometimes I can't tell someone has responded to the question without actually opening it..
Just my 2 cents

It's terribly slow. I liked the old forum better.

Just fired up IE 5.50 and it's ligtning fast. What a difference. Like going from a Porsche to a C5 ! Boy another reason to abandon Netscape !

Evidently, The browser you use makes a big difference. Sunday morning I was try to log on and site was running slow as molasses. Pages just would not seem to completely load. I normally use Netscape 4.78.
Just on a hunch I opened Explorer (which I hate). I have to admit, the site runs like lightning.
Is this site configured to run better in IE? I'll guess I'll have to use it then.

Yeah, over the past few days I've been playing with Netscape and IE. And with IE I get a much better performance at this site. :cheers:
