Default Dash pad or windshield first

I'm putting my '61 back together. Is it better to put the windshield in first and then the dash pad or vice versa?

i'm sure you will get plenty of responses from C1 owners ( i "only" have a C2) but from what I remember reading thru various posts I think the forward edge of the dashpad goes under the windshield frame which would mean the dashpad would have to go on first.

if i'm wrong there will be plenty of others to correct me!

Barry is correct. Dashpad first, then windshield.

Norman:
Having just completed both I would be happy to share my thoughts with you on this (these) job(s). And the previous post is right on, dash pad then windshield. I would strongly recommend you get the Compact Disc from the NCRS "The Corvette Restorer 1953-1962 Vol. 1".
This disc details every conceivable straight axle (era) repair you will ever run up against. From wiper transmission rigging to convertible top repair. It is a collection of years of articles posted in Corvette Restorer Magazine neatly sorted by topic. It's a must have for the bumpy ride guys.

Best Regards,

Ralph

Dash pad first, and GLUE IT DOWN in the windshield channel or it'll pull back out later.
