While recently looking at photos of a very well done custom C2, it suddenly struck me that it was a lot like a professional body builder. Tremendous effort had gone into making it look just right (in the eyes of the builder) and it had an immense and powerful engine. But in the same sense that a body builder is not the same as a power lifter, this powerful car was built for show rather than performance. That inspired me to consider what the human counteparts to various styles of Corvettes might be. My list follows and I invite you to comment and/or offer your own examples.
- Custom (e.g. Pro Street) Corvette = Professional body builder
- NCRS Blooming Gold Corvette = All natural (no steroids) body builder
- Pro drag race car with Corvette shell = Pro football player on steroids
- Sebring racer = Triathlete (C1 = amatuer; C6 = pro)
- Hopped up C1/2 daily driver = Best player on the company softball team
- Unrestored C1/2 daily driver = College athlete past his prime
- Barn find = Former athlete who's been sitting on the couch, watching TV and drinking beer for the past 25 years
- My Corvette = A mistress who can still tempt even though we're both a lot older than we were when we met
