Default Block cast date
Does anybody know, on a block cast date of D 12 7c, what the little "c" at the end stands for. Thanks

Is it clearly a "c" or could it be the screw head from the mold?

It is on a car I am considering buying and I had him give me the block cast date and that is what he said was on it. I suppose he could have been mistaken, but I don't know. Is there any reason a letter would be there, did they ever do that? Thanks

Nope, letters weren't used after the year digit - it's most likely the impression of the screw head that attached the date plate to the pattern that created the mold.
