E-bay scams, Could someone please explain.
Oh yeah, did I mention that I have a restored 56 Seagrave fire truck to trade or sell. PARADE READY, loads of fun. REALLY, NO BS.
A too good to be true price and all they want is a deposit via Western Union to hold it. Then you never hear from them again. They post pictures they have downloaded on the most desireable cars. I have noticed some members bid the cars up to 900,000 to mess up their dishonest auction.

Some scammers talked an old lady out of $600,000 a few towns over from me last year with the bond for lottery winnings scam.
I'm glad I had a father around to teach me..... If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Proceed with caution.
That's the whole point- they don't really have that car for sale! They scam a picture from another auction or just a random corvette picture, you click the "buy it now" for 10K thinking you are getting a good deal. They ask you to send them a grand or two down payment and then they keep it and you are screwed.
Ebay can't force them to do anything, all they can do is shut them down as fast as they can be identified and hope they don't try again.
My kid brother has used e-Bay to buy some snow mobile parts but I haven't the time of day for e-Bay and it's scams... I realize that scamming is not the intent of e-Bay, but a small percentage is tarnishing e-Bays reputation IMHO....
who said she was from Italy and that her dad died and left her the car. All she wanted to do was off load it ASAP and would take $7K for it. All I had to do was send her the $ by Western Union. W.U.. It sounded too good to be true, but I followed it for a couple of laughs
. I told her that if I sent the $ by W.U. she could get the $ and fly the coop. Her answer was to deposit it under one of my friends name so she couldn't get the $. I was to send her the name and transfir # and she would check to see if the $ were there, then she would ship the car freight prepaid. Once I received the car and was satisfied I would then change the name at W.U. to hers and she could collect the funds.
Ya with the complete info she could get some phoney ID and get the $. I decided to play the game and offered to fly to Italy, inspect the car, arrange for shipping, and take her to the bank and hand her the $.
Guess what I never herd from her again. I wonder whyThe second was a 63 SS 409 Convertible for $6000 same MO as above. Both had complete photos of beautiful cars. This one I told the person that I would deposit the $ under an International letter of credit in there name with stipulations that that the $ would be released after the car was inspected and accepted by me and that the shipping documents were presented to the bank.
but guess what
I never heard from them again. Boy am I surprised. The main thing that a Con man works on Speed and GREED and lots of
