Default Another Block Id Question

Here is what I have and what I think it means
3737739 FA12353
The block is a 1957 283 and I believe the FA brakes down as a 185hp with powerglide and A/C. The 12352 is where I am confused. I believe it is a Jan 23 and then I am lost. Any help would be appreciated. I have been looking for a correct block for my 1958 I guess this won't work.

Thanks Greg

The block casting number is a 1958 block. What is the date code cast in teh rear of the block?

The FA would be a 3x2 passenger car motor if 1958.

If that 12353 is on the block pad, it doesn't sound right.

Your block pad should have something like F 5 25 FA for Flint, May 25.

Maybe it was restamped to reflecta VIN number at one time.

I agree the FA12352 does not make a lot of sense.
The Pad id is on the passenger side front. I have not seen the block but I spoke to the owner a second time and he's sure that it is FA 12352. This motor is currently in a 55 chevy that had been stored since 1970. Thanks Greg

Those pad numbers can't be right... You should check for yourself but, I would have to believe the last item in your pad stamping is probably something like a "B" not a "3", but the "5" would most likely be an "S", although if it were "SB" for a suffix it would mean it was a 62-64 327/300hp for passenger cars...
