It has been many years since I priced a 56-62 windshield. But I have had them off/on several times. The absolute worst part is removing the the 2 nuts from the studs on each side back corner and then getting the nuts back on. If you don't feel comfortable tackling the job, get a knowledgeable 56-62 friend to help. DON'T take it to a glass shop, you CAN do it yourself!!!!!
It is rather time consuming, but worth the effort.

The windshield is around $300 and I just had my side windows replaced for I think $110 each.
The labor to do the windshield will not be cheap, However its not hard to do yourself though if you have patience.
Diamond Auto Glass used to have a guy that knew how to do it correctly. They wanted $350 for the install and $259 for the windshield about 5 years ago.
I am in the process of putting my windshield back on. One thing you must be sure of, and that being the tabs have not been broken on the side post. As Duntov mentioned there are 4 double sided bolts that hold the post on and 8 t bolts that support the bottom of the windshield. It took me 6 hours to take my windshield off. However I spent 2 hours on on t bolt and 30 minutes on two others. From my experience, DON"T let anyone do it if they have not done it before. DO it yourself, it's very rewarding and you know it's done correctly.
I have a lot of info about it if you want to tackle it yourself.
