Thanks fior the help on the engine stamp. This car has what appears to be th original dash. The tach has a 6500 redline ( or there abouts). Would that give any indication as to the original configuration of the motor.
Open the hood; look on the "lip" on the top of the fender facing the engine bay...are there 2 HOLES about midway? If so, they are there to hold the air cleaner hose that goes into the side of a feul injection optioned '62...
...and if it is originally a fuel injected car, the windshield washer bottle mount will be on the right (passenger) fenderwell above the battery instead of the left fenderwell. The windshield washer hose will go through a hole on the passenger side of the firewall. If the car was not a fuelie, then there should still be a divot in the firewall where that windshield washer hose would go.
Finally, the tach may be a 340/360 horse tach but you can't be totally sure that it is original to your car. The tach in my 62 had an ink-stamped-date on the back of it which aligned with the approximate build date of my car, leading me to believe that my tach was original which in turn told me my car likely had a 340 horse engine - because it didn't have the fuelie markers in the engine compartment.
