I am looking at putting about 600-650hp to the rear tires, what would be needed to the rear end to make it hold up reliably?
I was looking at Tom's Differential but seems the housing for the 12 bolt option are hard to find in good condition, and their new housing won't be out for a while.
I would like to stay with the IRS and prefer to stay with a bolt up setup if possible.
Ford 9" rear with iron carrier....call Myers racing and talk to them about it....they have experience putting rear ends in C1 and C2's.....I know it is good to 600HP.....but check with them....
I would wait to get something from Tom's. I have had their 1480 system with the 12 bolt for about 3 years now with zero problems. Their stuff is top notch and extremely strong.
My car currently puts out 917 rwhp so the 600-650 rwhp you are after should be no problem.
I agree that they have top notch products and workmanship but I think it is really unknown when the new housings will be done. I was checking last summer and was told hopefully in 02/06 and now was told late summer hopefully. And with all new products it might go out even later. My hope was to get it on the road by late summer. I would love to go with the new housing but I'm worried that I would wait till summer and be told it will be next year before it's done. I talked with Tom and sounds like good housings for the 12 bolt conversion are hard to find now.
So I thought somebody else might be in the same boat and found another option.
