In the process of replacing the distributor cap on my 67 427 roadster, the braided shield on one of the ignition wires shorted out the positive side of the coil, burning the insulation off the two pink wires that are connected to the coil. By the time I saw the smoke, it was too late - the two pink wires had burned the insulation. I have traced the larger of the pink wires to what appears to be either a fuse or a resistor mounted on the firewall, so replacing that wire is no problem, but the smaller of the pink wires appears to be routed over to the passenger side. Could someone tell me where that wire is connected?
Should I be prepared for some other damage to the car from my mistake - like the tach?
The other 18 ga pink wire connects to the 'R' terminal on the starter solnoid.
You do have point ignition and not transistor don't you?
Yes, I do have point ignition - thanks for the help - would you recommend replacing with ordinary wire - or can these be ordered from one of the parts houses?
A length of 18 guage wire (pink insulation prefered) some terminal ends and a crimping tool will get you back in business.
That particular wire provides the coil with a full 12 volts for a stronger spark while cranking over.

Almost forgot:
No, you didn't hurt the tack.
Thanks - I really appreciate the help on this forum - makes things a lot easier to deal with -
