With all the post recently about motor stamps and vin plates on Corvettes, when does it stop being a Corvette? Say you have a legit title with the right ID plate etc. and change it to a tube frame. Ok, still a Corvette. Then you change the body to say a Cobra replica. Still has the Corvette ID but is it still legally a Corvette?

The most often debated and never resolved question over on the Cobra forum is how to answer the question, "Is it real?" Most cars that look like Shelby Cobras were not manufactured by Shelby before 1967, but many are registered as such. Some owners, especially those who paid premium prices to buy a Shelby authorized "continuation Cobra" argue enthusiastically that their cars are indeed "real Cobras". There has never been unanimous agreement on that point. ... I don't think your question will yield unanimous agreement either. Thinking about it is better than watching TV, but it is otherwise a pointless exercise.
